Internationally renowned classical musicians of African descent are competitively selected from across the globe to join Rochesterians in a week of over 50 performances across the city. This free event is presented in partnership with the Gateways Music Festival and Director Lee Koonce. Free for all to attend with a reception to follow.

Jorell Williams is an American operatic baritone with a wide variety of experience from standard repertoire to premiere pieces. Praised for his “magnificent, rich-tone” (The New York Times), Mr. Williams joins with celebrated local pianist Kevin Nitsch in an evening of Spanish songs alongside diverse classical literature that are sure to captivate the imagination.

Partnering with the City of Rochester, this outdoor concert boasts the highest attendance of any of the seven Around the Town concerts! Audiences will delight in this electrifying performance of multiple percussionists and marimbas on stage, played by some of the world’s leading musicians from our local award-winning orchestra.
With family activities beginning at 3:00 pm, BuJazzO's 4:00 pm FREE concert brings international artistry and films from the George Eastman archive together on a national holiday, and culminates in a FREE barbecue for the whole community this Fourth of July!
